Fourth of July 2013

Updates on McKay -
She asks to sit on the potty every time Clifton does.  We put her on but she has not quite figured out how to go potty.
She is at a tough stage right now.  She sure can throw a temper tantrum.  She is at the stage of screaming.  Screaming when she wants something, screaming when she is mad, screaming when she is excited, etc... She has a lot of words in her vocabulary but she does not use them when she needs to communicate.  So hopefully she can learn to use her words and the temper tantrum happen less often.

Updates on Clifton -
He is starting to stutter, however I am sure he is doing it on propose.  I am not sure if he thinks it is funny/fun to do or just testing new ways to talk.

For cub scouts this week the boys had a bike rodeo.  I brought my little ones along with their push cars so they could run around.  They had fun, especially Clifton.
Popsicles for dessert.  This was McKay's first time with a popsicle.  She loved it!
It was a good evening out!

This week I had a car because Alex took a few days off and had a few days off for the holiday.  So Wednesday the library was having a big truck event.
The kids got to get in a fire truck, police cruiser, ambulance, and lawnmower/tractors.  They even got to push the button for the siren.  McKay also tried to stay with a fire fighter:)  I tried to get her out and she just wanted to sit on his lap and flirt.  Oh boy!
Clifton being silly!

Fourth of July! This holiday is actually my least favorite.  Fireworks are fine and I enjoy a good show, however I dislike fireworks for weeks before and weeks after.  But this year was a good one!
We started the morning out with dropping Daddy off at a mountain so he and Uncle Andrew could go mountain biking.  Then we went to see Despicable Me 2 with cousins!  That was McKay's first movie at the theater.  She did great and so did Clifton.  I am guessing we will be doing more movies this summer.
Our family outfits for the day. All still fit form last year:)

We spent the rest of the day at Grandma and Grandpa Peterson's!
Testing out Grandpa's new "tractor" lawnmower.  Clifton was in heaven!
 Joe helping Clifton roller skate!
 Being cute!
 Stomping on pop its.
Fireworks!  My kids were terrified last year from the fireworks.  But this year Clifton loved them!  McKay liked them too until she got too tired.  It was a good Fourth of July. The best we have had in a long long time.

Friday we had our friends come visit and help Daddy build a sandbox/flower bed/garden bed.
The kids love the sandbox!!!  The garden bed and flower bed part still needs to be filled with dirt and flowers/seeds.  So I will put the picture of the whole thing up when we finish.

A fun filled week!

Family Reunion 2013

Updates on Clifton -
Back to no naps:/  But he is being good at entertaining himself during McKay's nap time so I can have some time.
He is starting to be more social.  He has always been too scared and shy to go play with other kids he does not know.  But he is going and playing with kids he just meet and playing well with them.  It is so good to see him do that.  He is getting to be my big boy!

Updates on McKay -
Her sore from her infection is finally back to normal.  It took a long time for it to go down all the way, but it is finally gone:)  We had to fight with her all week to take her antibiotics.  So I am very glad to be done with that.
New words - apple, cereal, milk, and excuse me.
McKay being silly with her Daddy!

This week we traveled to Utah for Alex's family reunion.  It was a quick trip but we still had fun.
We even got to eat at a Golden Corral!  I love their rolls:) Clifton was excited to pick out whatever he wanted to eat.  This was his first time to a buffet.
We stopped in Boise for the night and got to visit the newly-remodeled Boise Temple.

We stayed with Alex's sister, JoLin, for the first night.  And the kids had a blast.  I love the fact that my kids know their cousins.  I never knew mine and it means so much to me that they know and enjoy each other.  Clifton and McKay could have moved in, they loved it there.

The next morning JoLin and I went to a Kiss Me Dirty mud run.  It is a race just for women (with one heat for men in drag) that supports breast and ovarian cancer.
It was fun.  It was not nearly as dirty as the Dirty Dash but still fun.  It was real nice to get to know JoLin more and just spend time with her. She is a fun lady, I like her:)  And to also support a good cause!

We then spent the rest of the time with the whole McClellan clan!
It was McKay's first time meeting her Great Grandpa.  It was good to see everyone and especially Great Grandpa.  I fell in love with Alex's Grandpa the first time I meet him.  He is such a great man and has such a great family.  I am so lucky to be apart of it:)

Spending time getting to know our cousins!

We snuck away for a little and made a visit to the Logan temple.  Clifton thinks it is great to see the temples and I love that excitement he has.
I love to see the temple!

It was a fun, hot, and tiring week.  McKay struggled with being away from home and did not sleep well, but it was worth the trip and seeing everyone.

Dirty Dash 2013

Updates on McKay -
This has been a real hard week for McKay.  She got a staph infection on her skin.  It was pretty bad.  She had a constant fever no mater what I did, throwing up, and shaking in pain. We ended up in the ER one night because she was in horrible condition.  They started her on antibiotics right away but it still took awhile for them to kick in and her skin infection really hurt her.  It was in her diaper area so that made it even worse for her.  But by the end of the week things have been looking up.  She still has a wound but the swelling has gone down drastically and no fever or any other issues.
I was so happy to have my little crazy girl back.  I love her so much and it was so hard to see her in so much pain.

Updates on Clifton -
He has been loving dressing up and pretending to be someone or something lately.  He really gets into character.  It is pretty cute.  I love watching what he does and acts when he pretends.

This week I got a few costumes at a garage sale and the kids were loving dressing up.

They were having so much fun playing as different characters.  They wanted to wear them everywhere.  I will need to hit up some more garage sales to collect more dress up clothes.

We also had fun with art this week.
Messy but they loved it.

We even had pretty good weather that we got the sprinkler out.
Clifton use to be timid around the sprinkler but he is getting good at playing in it and running around having fun.  Now McKay is pretty timid and wants us to play with her/ hold her.

This weekend was the Dirty Dash.  I have been seriously counting down the days to do this again.  With McKay's infection I almost had to miss out.  But she finally started feeling better the morning of the race.  I am very glad that I did not miss out and that my mother in law, sister in law, and nieces were super awesome and took care of my kiddos.
Before the race in our costumes that lasted about five minutes:)  Except for Aaron who wore his tiny sombrero the whole race!
We got asked by the race director to compete in a tug of war while we were waiting for our heat to start.  It was fun and hard!  We played over a mud pit so who ever lost went into the pit.  WE WON!  Later the director asked us to come up on stage.  He then said whoever gets the dirtiest gets a free shirt.  So we all ran and jumped in the mud.  I got the free shirt:)  So I started the race covered in mud.  We were celebrities that day, the whole race as we ran by people would say "Hey look, its the yellow team!"
 Group shots!
After our race, Alex's sister got the kids and brought them over to do the piglet run.  This was Clifton's first year.
I was a little nervous he would not like it and that I would have wasted my money.  Oh but he loved it!  It made me so happy to see him having fun with it.  It is totally a family tradition that I want to keep.  He likes to get dirty like his parents! A wonderful way to end the week.
